A couple summers ago my grandma and my aunt were driving home from a visit in my grandma's new car when they had car trouble. They were pulled over by the side of the road outside a very small, um..."hickish"? town when a tow truck came along.

Tow truck driver #1: "So, what seems to be the trouble ma'am?"

Grandma: "Oh, I'm not sure...the car just died...I seemed to be losing power coming up all the hills and suddenly it just stopped"

Tow truck driver #1: [struggles to figure out how to open hood, taps random things under hood using random tools from toolbox] "Well, it could be nothing. Or, it could be something. Yep, it's definitely one of those two things."

He tows them to the nearest service station and a while later...okay, a LONG while later, gets them on their way again.

A few hours later, their troubles return, this time outside a larger city. The slightly more "cityish" tow truck driver comes along:

Tow truck driver #2: "So what seems to be the trouble? 

Grandma: "Oh, I don't think it's too serious. I just have some bad gas"

Tow truck driver #2: "Bad gas? Oh, well that's unfortunate for your passenger ma'am but I was hoping you could tell me what's wrong with the car"

Grandma: "Well, I'm trying to tell you, I have bad gas. At least that's what the other guy said"

 Tow truck driver #2: "Look lady,  I just take care of car problems ...I can take a look at your car but you may want to consult a doctor or something for the um, gas issue. It DOES seem pretty bad...perhaps it has something to do with stress from your car not working?" Maybe you can get to the doctor's office after we figure out what's wrong with the car?"

Grandma: "Listen, that's what I'm trying to tell you...the other tow truck driver a few towns back said I must have been given a batch of bad gas...GASOLINE." You know, the bad kind.

Tow Truck Driver #2: "Oh" [Turns nearly purple, jumps in his truck and peels out, leaving half of his tires smoking on the road behind him in his hurry to escape what is perhaps one of the most embarassing situations of his entire life]

Meanwhile, my aunt, who had been fuming the entire day because a trip that was supposed to take slightly over 4  hours has turned into 12 hours, is now silently laughing so hard that tears are streaming down her face and little snorts are escaping from her nostrils.

Is there a lesson to be learned in this somewhere? Probably not... but for entertainment value, the story is priceless. Please do not ask what brought this story to mind on this of all nights because I probably should not tell you that it had something to do with a phone call received from my husband about him having issues with bad gas today...and not in his truck.

On an absolutely unrelated note, has anyone else noticed the Quality Skin Care products woman from Sonya Dakar in the ad on this page (that would be the page when you are posting new entries)? And does anyone else who has noticed the Quality Skin Care Products woman find her oh, um...FREAKISHLY DISTURBING??????? I'm just asking is all.
